Hints On instrument Maintenance

One of the great advantages of purchasing your instrument from John Packer is the knowledge that it will have been carefully checked and adjusted to its best playing condition before it reaches your hands. Our repairers are very experienced and can carry out technical work of the greatest complexity to the very highest standards.

Almost as important is the fact that our experienced workshop technicians are here to deal with the problems that occur from time to time with any instrument as well as your regular instrument servicing requirements.

As a rough guide, woodwind instruments need a thorough service about every eighteen months depending on the amount and type of use they receive. Brass instruments have a considerable advantage over woodwind instruments in that they are largely able to be maintained by the player. If they are kept clean and properly lubricated they will present very few problems.

We operate an appointment system so for servicing work it is important to anticipate your needs and book well in advance. You do not wait for something to go wrong with you car or your teeth before you get them checked so don't wait for a problem with your instrument. Remember that instrument maintenance is important for preserving your instrument, so book it in regularly and well ahead of time.
