John Packer

I play in a brass band in East Sussex alongside experienced players with higher end cornets who listen to, and look upon, this beautiful instrument with envy. I bought the lacquered version last year and it really does sound amazing. It gives a lovely, rich, mellow sound, and is relatively free blowing providing easy reach of upper register notes. The valves spring reassuringly quickly, and overall this is simply a brilliant instrument.

The Vandoren cushions are excellent- better than others I have tried, they seem thicker, are hard wearing and long- lasting. Great.

Sometimes it's the small things that make all the difference. One of the smaller parts but it's used everytime i take out the instrument.

Pipe arrived safe and sound which was great…the doubt for me was the thin brass pipe was only packed in a soft Jiffy bag ! Yes in bubble wrap but it could have been easily damaged in transit..l thought it should have been packed at least in a hard cardboard box with bubble wrap too

I normally buy the KGe Standard reed but decided to try the Professional one instead. The KGe Professional Oboe Reed is a well made high quality reed. It's very consistent and the medium strength reed that I bought played well straight out of the box. I've not had to adjust or scrape it, but I did have to micro adjust the wiring to slightly open the aperture. Good reed - I'll buy the Pro again I think.
