A Brief History of Courtois

Courtois

The Antoine Courtois manufacturing company was founded in Paris in 1789 during the French revolution. A natural horn is believed to have been the first instrument made. The company's name comes from the name of the founder's children who created the brand name in 1803. The company has been a leading manufacturer of brass instruments ever since, particularly trumpet, cornet, saxhorn, flugelhorn and trombone.

Today Antoine Courtois is owned by the Buffet Crampon Group, which owns many other recognised brass and woodwind brands, such as Besson, Scherzer, Hans Hoyer and B&S. Production is in the Markneukirchen – a well-known instrument manufacturing region of Germany.
