International Account and Business Development Manager

John Packer Ltd is one of the UK’s largest specialist Brass and Woodwind retailers, with a global reputation for quality, craftsmanship and service. Our international and manufacturing division includes renowned brands such as JP Musical Instruments, Michael Rath Trombones, Taylor Trumpets, Sterling Brass, and Rudall Carte Woodwinds.

We are proud recipients of the Queen’s Award for International Trade (2018) and the King’s Award for International Trade (2025), supplying instruments to musicians and institutions across the world.

We are now seeking a dynamic, driven and commercially astute International Sales Manager to sustain and expand our international footprint across multiple markets.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Revenue Growth

  • Achieve monthly and annual sales targets through established international distribution partners
  • Develop and execute country‑level business plans to drive sustainable growth

Territory & Account Management

  • Manage a portfolio of key international accounts
  • Identify market trends, competitor activity and policy changes that influence sales performance

Strategic Expansion

  • Identify, evaluate and onboard new distributors in emerging and established markets
  • Advise on market‑entry strategies and regional growth opportunities

Brand Representation

  • Represent John Packer Ltd and its portfolio at international trade shows, conferences and dealer events
  • Uphold brand standards and ensure consistent global representation

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 5 years B2B sales experience, ideally within an international environment
  • Business‑level fluency in English; proficiency in an additional language is desirable
  • Experience using CRM systems is advantageous
  • Strong negotiation, communication and relationship‑building skills
  • High cultural awareness and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Proficiency on a brass or woodwind instrument, with the ability to engage confidently with artists, educators and dealers
  • Willingness and ability to undertake significant global travel

Accounts Assistant

We are seeking a detail‑oriented and proactive Accounts Assistant to support our finance function. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger, and Sage 200, with a strong commitment to accuracy, organisation and meeting deadlines.

John Packer Ltd is one of the largest Brass and Woodwind musical instrument stores in the UK. Its international and manufacturing arm contains brands such as JP Musical Instruments, Michael Rath Trombones, Taylor Trumpets, Sterling Brass and Rudall Carte woodwinds.

John Packer Ltd was awarded the Queens award for international trade in 2018 and the Kings award for International Trade in 2025 supplying instruments to all 4 corners of the world.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Ledger

  • Raise and issue customer invoices
  • Allocate customer receipts and maintain accurate debtor records
  • Monitor outstanding balances and assist with credit control activities
  • Reconcile customer accounts and resolve invoice queries promptly

Purchase Ledger

  • Process supplier invoices, ensuring correct coding and authorisation
  • Prepare supplier payment runs and maintain up‑to‑date creditor records
  • Reconcile supplier statements and investigate discrepancies
  • Manage purchase ledger inbox and respond to supplier queries

General Accounts Support

  • Maintain accurate financial records in line with company procedures
  • Support the Finance Manager with ad‑hoc tasks and administrative duties
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in Sales Ledger and Purchase Ledger roles
  • Strong working knowledge of Sage 200
  • Good understanding of basic accounting principles
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload
  • Confident communicator with a professional approach
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general IT systems
