A Brief History of Di Zhao

The literal translation of Di Zhao is flute, so it is not surprising to learn that company founder Di Zhao’s first memory is of a flute; his father playing and teaching flute. Di Zhao left his native China for America in the 1990s to undertake a master’s degree in music at the University of Indiana. To help fund his education Di Zhao took on a part time job and discovered a new passion for instrument repair work and the mechanics of flutes.

In 2006, after honing his training with the reputable flute brands such as Powell and Haynes, Di Zhao was ready to realise his intention to provide top quality handmade instruments for young musicians. In the last 15 years, Di Zhao Flutes has made a big impression and created a global following.
