A Brief History of Scherzer
Like many instrumentmanufacturers, the Scherzer business runs through family tradition. After five years of practical study Emil Knoth founded his workshop in Markneukirchen – the heart of instrument manufacturing. Some years later Emil’s son Kurt took over later his nephew Johannes Scherzer.
In 1984 the master workshop of Johannes Scherzer was integrated into the state-owned enterprise B&S (Blechblas- und Signalinstrumenten- fabrik), which 10 years later was brought under the umbrella of JA Musik Group in Markneukirchen, Germany. His passion for the instrument has contributed to innovative designs and an increase in the JA brass instruments line. While focusing on improving methods and procedures in building the trumpets, Johannes has taken pride in the traditions he continues, handed down from generation to generation.
