Surprisingly good!

Having played for 50 years, starting as an army bandsman, I was looking for an oboe which was lighter than the ones I had played, yet without sacrificing any keywork. (Buffet, Moennig, Howarth, Kreul and Ward & Winterborne - all well established makes). This JP181 seemed to be a good deal, and what a surprise! I was expecting a cheap ‘copy’ but was astonished and convinced after the first few notes that this instrument could produce a wonderfully rich and sonorous sound. The keywork is well balanced, the tuning is stable and it speaks pp to ff very easily throughout the range. I am more than happy with this instrument. Not wood, but equally as good (if not better than some!). A very affordable instrument and good value for such a resonant sound.
Well recommended.
