The JP236 alto trombone is the perfect starter for you, if you are an orchestral musician starting to explore the world of alto trombone playing.

Some will say that it is the perfect starter model to train players to use all 7 trombone slide positions, although we would suggest talking to a teacher before choosing this as a beginner trombone, due to being in the key of Eb.

The JP236 Rath Eb Alto Trombone follows in the footsteps of previous JP Rath instruments which pushed the boundaries of what was thought possible in the development of student friendly instruments.

Great for the price, but loose the counterweight!

I play alto bone exclusively and I think it's a great horn for the price! Only 2 reasons why I gave it 4 stars.
1 - The slide was a little scratchy on delivery. It was fast enough, but it took a few days of frequent cleaning to solve the noise issue. 2 - The counterweight is both unnecessary and in an annoying location. The horn sounds and feels better without it and, at least in my case, it was right where it rubbed against my ear. Once I removed it, the horn played better, looked better, and felt much more comfortable. The case is also very nice. I highly recommend this horn if you're looking for a reasonably priced alto.

Amazing

This is simply Amazing. I own a Conn 36H and that is well worth the money I spent on it. Obviously, this is not as good as a 36H, but at about a 6th of the price its worth it. Its lightweight, it blows beautifully, it's as good as Yamaha Altos and it is an absolute steal. I would recommend this over the 136 any day, the case and bits are great. It's absolutely worth it, and I would be happy to buy more JP Rath products in the future !!!
