Excellent for beginners

Really solid build, excellent intonation, solid case.
Standard sharp 6th harmonic (high F) seen in almost all euphoniums
The harmonics are good up to the 9th harmonic (high high C) where they no longer seem to exist. However, since this is targeted at beginners, this should not be too big of a problem.
However, the tone is not centred enough and has a lot of room to bend the note.
Otherwise, a great instrument for an advanced beginner.

JP 274s euph

Received my jp274 today, first impression, opening the box, the case is good, similar to the brown Besson hard plastic cases, opening the case , it’s all a bit backwards to what I’m used to, the orientation of the instrument in the case is a mirror image of what I’d consider the norm, not a criticism, just a comment. I’ll get used to it. The instrument itself, I’ve had a bit of time to look at it, can’t fault it finish wise, plating etc., brilliant. Quirky lock down cap on the 4th valve , don’t like that very much, but it’s a very minor point, just alien to what I’m used to, I’ll get used to it no doubt. Playing wise , I’m amazed, my previous instrument was an early Besson Prestige, and before that a sovereign 967, I found the 274 at least equal re ease of playing, I won’t delve any further in that direction as I’ve not played properly for around 6 years, so don’t really feel qualified to comment too much. However, the instrument itself, I am delighted with . It seems superb value for money, how will it fare as time goes on? I don’t know for sure, but I’d think pretty well. I’m certainly very pleased with it so far.

Superb Quality Euphonium

I recently purchased this euphonium. Everything about it is what I was looking for, it has a great warm, dark, full tone quality, smooth valve action, and is compensating. Probably my favorite part about the JP274(s) is the sound of the instrument. The tone is incredible, perfect for soloists like myself. On top of that, it has a 12" bell that helps me produce a big sound. Like I stated before, it has a warm, dark, full, fulfilling tone quality. The compensating system is super helpful, I immediately noticed a change in intonation in my low register. There are really no cons about this instrument that I can think of.
