They are machined from hard rubber to ensure accuracy and consistency making them a great upgrade. Vandoren produce one of the largest selections of mouthpieces, offering over 30 different models for Bb clarinet alone. Having such an extensive range to choose from, clarinetists have the freedom to pick the optimal mouthpiece for their individual needs.
Like the popular Vandoren B45, the B40 has a intermediate tip opening and medium - long facing but has a slightly wider tip rail. The added width allows the player to achieve a centered and smooth tone whilst using softer reed set-ups.

Also available with profile 88 and series 13 options.
A profile 88 mouthpiece has a shallower angle on the exterior of the beak of the mouthpiece. This gives the player a choice to find a model which suits them best in terms of playing position, sound projection, control, comfort and articulation.
The '13 series' was designed specifically for American clarinets using the A440 pitch but is very popular with all players. The 13 series all have the profile 88 beak by default.
