The newest model in our Geyer style Custom French Horn range, the YHR-871 delivers exceptional clarity as well as deep, rich resonance.

The YHR-871D is a new professional model double horn by Yamaha. Introduced in 2016 it replaces the 667V model. The 871 has a very lightweight bell flare, reminiscent of the 667V.

Offering a redefined sound with a wider range of tonal characteristics for performing passages that require added nuance, the new instruments provides consistency and playability associated with Yamaha Custom-level horns.

• An orthodox Geyer style wrap is used with a medium size bell and relatively thick rim wire. The tone is rich and deep with a solid core.
• Leadpipe
• A new leadpipe design in gold brass contributes to consistent tone and playing feel throughout the instrument’s range.
• Bore Size
• This model features a 12.1 millimeter bore size that maximizes its performance potential.
• Silde and Valve Casing
• The inner tubes of all slides are made of gold brass to emphasize the horn’s tonal clarity and depth. The main tuning slide also has a rounded shape that provides ideal blowing resistance for this class of instrument. The valve casing is made of Nickel silver for enhanced response and durability.
• 4th Rotor
• A hollow rotor makes notable contributions to response and tone.
• 4th Lever and Pinky Hook
• The 4th thumb lever and pinky hook can be adjusted for the most comfortable playing position
• Long Pull Ring
• The Bb 2nd valve slide features a long pull ring that adds to the instrument’s playing convenience
• Valve Caps
• Engraved brass valve caps enhance appearance, adding visual sophistication that is on a par with high-end models

The Yamaha YHR-871D is supplied in a hard case. A Yamaha 30D4 mouthpiece is also supplied. An accessory pack including a polish cloth and a bottle of valve oil is also provided.
