JP044 Barisax excellent instrument

I owned a JP144 a few years ago but sold it regrettably!
I have just purchased a JP044
These Saxophones are great value & blow superbly. The qualitly of the Saxes are excellent! They are an "easy blow" I have got a Jody Jazz mouthpiece 6 lay with a 2 strength Rico Royal it is a good combination.
I can highly recommend these JP Saxes I own A Tenor Sax too.
Thanks to Alice JP woodwind Sales who assisted me in purchase. Great customer service !!!

Update

After 3 months I am even more impressed; I can't stop playing it. I am hoping to get Stephen Howard to do a review soon and any modifications that may prolong its life if necessary. Despite being crazy about it, I am playing the Tenor more too so win win. This instrument is fun and does not restrict my playing in any way.

Another Update

There is a detailed review by Stephen Howard at www.shwoodwind.co.uk/Reviews/Saxes/Bari/packer_jp044ii_baritone.htm.

I am still really pleased and for a small outlay it is playing better than ever. This is a really good introduction to Baritone Sax as a second instrument.

Unbelievable value for money.

Value Baritone

I will need to add another review later. I've only been blowing it for 2 hours. It arrived on time, thank you. It makes a wonderful sound, The bottom register is fabulous. I'm having a few difficulties with middle D, it is overblowing an octave sometimes, but maybe I just have to get used to it. My Tenor is a P Mauriat 66 without rolled tone holes, and it is really good, I have an Otto Link 5 mouthpiece on the Tenor, and a Yamaha 5C on the Baritone currently using Vandoren 2.5s on both. In time I will do some trials on other mouthpieces. So far so good.

I am going to keep a close eye on screws coming loose, but that is only because I am paranoid that at this price it is too good to be true!

Extraordinary Value for Money

I used to pay a Selmer mark 6 baritone but had to sell it for financial reasons 20 years ago. I've just now got round to replacing it with a JP044 and I am very pleased with the result. I find the instrument very responsive over a 3 octave range and with the option of the foot for seated playing, very comfortable. The price for such a playable instrument is phenomenal. Perhaps if you're a soloist or it is your main instrument you might prefer a more expensive model but for a double it can't be beat!
