Perfect Experience

As with all sales, we start with outstanding customer care. It's refreshing to find a business that really wants your business in these trying times. Everyone at JP was quite helpful.

Delivery of my purchase was exactly on time. Even while considering a holiday during the week of delivery. UPS did a great job!

Upon openoning the box, I was quite surprised with the quality of the hard case. It's a very nice case! The trumpet was packaged nicely to prevent any damage.

The trumpet itself, while being shown as a Student/Step-up horn is far more than that! It's an upper-end horn ... All the qualities of a professional trumpet.

As with every new trumpet, I did a complete inspection of the horn. Including a snake-out of all tubing. This is done "Just in case of" any filings or debris from manufacturing. The horn was perfect inside and out! No blemishes in the finish, and even the valve pistons were shiny on the inside. This horn was "Crafted" nicely!

Many trumpets , even while new, should have the valves calibrated. I verified the alignment of these valves, and they were perfect! Yet another pleasant surprise! Also, I noticed that the piston springs are of a better tension than most in this price range. The valves feel very nice on this horn ... Smooth & Quick!

Another professional level feature of this horn is the slides. The slides are made to fit snug and smooth, but also have a nice offset that assists in alignment during assembly of horn. So, with this horn, you won't spend 2-3 minutes trying to put a slide back in once you remove it.

I saved the greatest surprise for last here ... The way it plays! Yes, I am a performer, and I use a C Trumpet on stage. I like not having to transpose to the Bb. .. It works for me. And, my son has heard most of my songs at least 100 times ... Today he took notice immediately, and loved the timbre of this horn. This horn actually Sparkles in timbre! The slotting was effortless, and the intonation was spot-on in all registers. I was just as impressed as my son was!

Bottom-line truth here ... I did not expect a Professional Level trumpet at this price! I am very happy with this purchase!

Pleasantly surprised

I purchased this trumpet (via ebay) recently, after deciding to go for a "budget" model, since it would have limited usage.

Delivery was rapid, and it arrived safely and well packaged. No complaints there!

After oiling the valves and playing the very first notes, I can say that it immediately felt very secure. All notes slotted right where I expected, and it seems to be very easy to play in tune over almost all of the register. The exception (for me at least) is that when playing below bottom C, especially A to G, it tends to be very flat. At the upper end of the range, top C feels very much in tune middle C and bottom C. Ascending, D definitely feels better played open, E was more in tune on 1+2, F and G slot nicely. Never felt like I had to fight with it (as I sometimes do with my B flat trumpet - Conn B52).

The only clues which show that it is a budget trumpet are some minor blemishes to the finish of the lacquer, and the mouthpiece holder in the case was loose. For me, this is really nothing to be concerned about. In fact I am seriously tempted to buy the JP151 B flat trumpet as well!

For this price, I would be surprised if anything could beat it.

A real Gem!

This instrument is an absolute stunner! Immediately I noticed that the build quality far exceeded my initial expectations. It has a sparkling tone, its intonation is almost perfect, even in the upper register, and it is generally extremely responsive. The instrument allows you to get a great amount of drive behind your playing at all dynamics and registers. For a something labelled as a student instrument I was very pleasantly surprised! I would recommend this to anyone!
