This Yanagisawa AWO1U unlacquered Eb alto saxophone is ideal for the advancing sax player looking to upgrade to an instrument that can complete the grades and go beyond. This sax is in a good condition and was made in 2021. The upgraded replacement for the legendary A901 series, this AWO1U, model has a strong tonal core thanks to a re-engineered bore and tone holes, plus many upgraded features exclusive to the WO series such as a newly designed Front F Keys, Right Side Keys and Right Pinky Key. Lacquer is simply put, a paint that is applied onto a material, for the purpose of keeping the material underneath from tarnishing or making the material an appealing colour. An unlacquered instrument simply has no lacquer applied to the base material.

Many unlacquered saxophones begin life with a polished finish that is visually similar to a standard lacquered instrument. However, as soon as the saxophone leaves the factory, the tarnishing process will begin. This will give the saxophone a real vintage appeal, the envy of all jazzers out there. This will also explain why it may have signs of aging when you receive it. Aurally, this means the material has complete freedom of movement for resonance. This will give the tone fullness ono the fringes of the note playing, really filling the space and giving the bottom end a real presence.

Wear & Tear Observations: This sax is in a good condition. There is a nicely developed patina as expected from unlacquered instruments, this is particularly common on areas where the hand comes in contact. This sax has been checked over by our workshop ready for sale.
