The Vandoren V16 Alto Sax mouthpieces represent Vandoren's most versatile jazz mouthpiece options and are by far the most popular in their Alto Jazz mouthpiece range. Extremely consistent and well made the V16 mouthpieces are available in the usual tip openings with the addition of a chamber size choice.

Chamber Options

The V16 Vandoren Alto Sax mouthpieces are available in various tip openings (5-9) and with a choice of internal chamber size: M for Medium or S+ for Small Plus.

S+ Chamber

The new S+ chamber is the next step in the evolution of the V16 alto sax mouthpiece range. It offers a richer depth of sound than the previous S (small chamber model) while keeping the free-blowing nature and projection that characterise the V16 alto models.

The S+ chamber accommodates more air than the previous small chamber design providing the musician greater flexibility and a wider array of colours with which to work.

M Chamber

The M Medium chamber offers a warmer, rounder sound due to the larger chamber size. Ideal for section playing.

  • Characteristics: The most played mouthpiece, in every style

 A7 Model:

  • Tip opening: 204 (1/100ths mm)
  • Facing: Medium Long
  • Characteristics: The perfect balance in power and dynamic range

 A8 Model:

  • Tip opening: 210 (1/100ths mm)
  • Facing: Medium Short
  • Characteristics: The tip opening preferred by history’s greatest jazz soloists. Similar characteristics to the A5 but a little more open

 A9 Model:

  • Tip opening: 225 (1/100ths mm)
  • Facing: Medium Long
  • Characteristics: Powerful and expressive
