p>The Wallace TWC-M17 Aluminium trumpet studio practice mute is the most adaptable practice mute ever made, with adjustable resistance and a stiff yet lightweight aluminium body, this mute will surprise you time after time.

Adjust the resistance and see how the resistance is quickly reduced until the mute blows as freely as the open trumpet. As the resistance is reduced the sound becomes more present and the tone changes dramatically.

This mute has to be played to appreciate just how many ways it can be used; practice mute, quiet straight mute, or remove the resistor and use it as a jazz mute. Pitch and centre is maintained over the entire register.

The Muirhead-Wallace M17 Bb/C Trumpet/Cornet  Studio practice mute with unique adjustable resistance. Offers exceptional intonation and response. Can be used as a quiet straight mute.

Amazing!

I absolutely adore this mute. I've never found a practice mute that I liked so I've tended to use a Harmon instead, but without the stem it can get quite stuffy and it's easy to over-blow and wreck my embouchure. This is as quiet as a Harmon without the stem and blows at least as freely. Moreover it suppresses low frequencies and boosts high frequencies more (especially noticeable when playing pp) so you get the zing without having to over-blow. So far I've only really used it with the stem all the way in. This gives the greatest reduction in volume while boosting the treble. Pulling the stem out has the same effect as with a Harmon (darkens the tone) and removing it altogether gives a different sound again but with more volume and even less resistance (still totally quiet enough for practice though). This really is an amazing mute. You need one.
